About James Wheeler

The more time I spent in the industry, the more frustrated I became. Too many accountancy firms were doing things the way they'd always been done. No technology, no commercial thinking, and no real relationship with their clients beyond year end. Clients were piecing together their financial picture from multiple places: a bookkeeper here, a tax advisor there, maybe an accountant once a year.

That's what pushed me to start Jameco Group in 2017. I wanted to build something different. A forward-thinking practice built around technology that supports clients like a partner, not just a service provider. We opened our first office in Kent and started working with agencies and consultancies.

We started as a generalist practice, but over time we found a real connection with marketing and creative agencies. They valued the clarity, the straight-talking, and the commercial mindset we brought. So we leaned into that.

Then construction found us. One referral led to another, and the more we worked with construction businesses, the more we realised the industry needed something purpose-built. In 2021, we launched Jameco Construction CFO as a dedicated finance partner for UK construction businesses.

In 2025, we applied the same thinking to the accounting profession and launched Jameco Practice Advisory, helping accountants build specialist, profitable practices of their own.

Today, I lead strategy, marketing, and client advisory across the Jameco Group. I work closely with our team at Jameco Construction CFO, personally advise clients on growth and tax planning, and spend a growing amount of time helping accountants through Practice Advisory.

What I care about most hasn't changed since the early days. I want to give business owners clarity. Help them understand what their numbers actually mean and make decisions with confidence.
